Sea dogs

Shiver me timbers! Look yee there mateys!
Cast off the anchors! Unfurl them sail mateys!

If the ropes cut your palms. Remember,
Coarse hands to better grip the rum mateys!

Knights and gallants, What do they know of love?
We seamen make twice the forlorn lovers mateys!

Scurvy 'n flu and other fine things, Does it not make thee envy every landlubber, eh mateys?

But has any bed ever been sweeter, than bein'
Rocked to sleep by the sea, eh mateys?

Gentler than a mother's kiss, 'n crueler than chlamydia,
A vexxing mistress, yet we return mateys!

We all return to her like dogs on a leash.
For dogs we are. Dogs of the sea me mateys!

  1. Also, is there a way the takhallus could be incorporated? Try!

  2. Playful. The sea register is well done. This is good. I believe its effect would have been a thousand times greater with a strong qafiya. Get the qafiya right and see the rhythm of this poem become absolutely infectious.
