EQUAL

An urge to write this
A sense to deny this
That
She isn’t equal.
A victim of Manusmriti
A girl bound with smriti
She has to rewrite this
That
She isn’t equal.
A girl who travels miles to reach this
A girl who is scared to do this
A darkness of oppression
An ingress to education
She fought everyday
To this question
That
She isn’t equal.
When a teacher makes her stand
Because she wore a white band
A color of purity
Yet dignified with anonymity
She is rebuked to dress up nicely.
When sun sets and rise  again
She gulped the previous abuses
And went ahead to dress up nicely.
She is now no more welcome here
She becomes a character to laugh upon in the class
Her tears went up in vain
Her mother broke the silence
At last
That
She isn’t born equal
So she fight everyday
To become equal
Only with the means to Education.
She faces  abuses every day
Yet she  remain focused
Only
To empower the equality among her people.
