Director promised December,
unkept.
Many wanted to know
why?
Eyes waited.
Strangled to the fortress wall,
bloody wall alerted.
Many suspected
Who, how and why?
Unanswered,
Eyes were shut.
Innocence on the wheels,
attacked in the name of pride.
Not only windows were broken,
Nation wanted to know
why?
Eyes were frightened.
Yellow barricades
& unsafe ques
Threatened was the nose
with folded hands
on the poster so huge,
Below the unibrows.
Eyes welcomed.
Eyes were here.
Eyes were there.
Could not see,
what was everywhere!
Eyes were unreliable.

Nation wanted to know
ReplyDeletewhy? Is it just me, or is this a sly joke on Arnab Goswami's catch phrase and thus a comment on how the media covered the entire Padmavati Controversy?
Haha it is not just you only, I believe. You are absolutely right.

Delete"Director promised December unkept" - the line that stayed with me. Also very good hint in these lines. I was trying in the poem from the begining. "Innocence on the wheels"-finally got the hint there. Although the title was also making way for it.
ReplyDeleteGlad that the line and the hint stayed with you. I tried to be very direct with the title though, at the same time leaving some scope of interpretations and layering with it.
