Come to me without any shame, Sita
It is only Lord Ram whom I blame, Sita
It is only Lord Ram whom I blame, Sita
Smiling you went to the forest with him
Your love for him made you insane, Sita
Even far away from his princely duties
Marital bliss he could not maintain, Sita
Marital bliss he could not maintain, Sita
For soon came Ravan to steal you away
As though he had won you in a game, Sita
As though he had won you in a game, Sita
And then they burned you when Ram won
To see that you were as pure as flame, Sita
To see that you were as pure as flame, Sita
Cruel gossip fell on Ram’s ears at the palace
He threw you out just to save him name, Sita
He threw you out just to save him name, Sita
Stop crying now darling and hate him instead
He was cowardly and cruel, that is plain, Sita
He was cowardly and cruel, that is plain, Sita
So fall into my lap without any fears or regrets
I will ease you of all your anguish and pain, Sita
I will ease you of all your anguish and pain, Sita
This is quite moving. Specially how the last couplet sums up the motherly love. One can definitely visualize a performance since it reminds of different chapters from Ramayana. But only Sita is the lead in this beautifully composed Sitaleela!
